XC parents and athletes:
Be sure to bookmark this page as I will try to keep it up to date with current events, practice times, and any short term changes. New Items will be in RED.

Good Job this week everyone! Many of us saw our times drop and set new mile PR's. Congrats on that! I would expect you to see further drops in times over the next week, and then smaller drops over the remainder of the season. Enjoy the long weekend and remember we have the Hicksville Quad Meet on Tuesday (9/7) so be sure to get out and run a hard couple of miles each day.

Xross Country Distance Running Tips

-This is information that I find to be more valid than the rest I have read through. Much of which we will use in training and bettering ourselves as runners. Keep in mind there is a LOT of running theory out there.

XC Fundraising Events for 2010:

-XC Change to go the Distance - Team members will be collecting loose change donations (or greater if you so desire to) where for every $1 collected, the team will run 10m. If you want to see the team run 100m you could donate $10... etc They will then run this at the first home football game of the season during pregame, which is Aug 27th!!! Collection forms will be sent home with athletes at the 2nd mandatory practice and be due Thursday, August 26th.

-XC Silent Auction - Team members bring in donated items and silent bids are done during the lunch period and near the end of 7th period during the school day. Date to be determined.

NEW XC HOME COURSE - Updates
With the site being okayed for course development, we have had a number of people already hard at work clearing the trail. I will try to get some pictures to the downloadables section in the next couple of days to highlight some of the development as the course takes shape. The sections of the course that wind through the tall grass are just about done as far as clearing and now will just require some ground work to remove some ruts and bumps. The trail through the woods will be the next big step, with us looking to clear dead wood and debris from the paths. I think we will be ready to begin dropping mulch in the next week or two depending on how the weather holds up. More information on the way.
